shark week vs. china week

What is the deal with Suede on Project Runway speaking in third person? He reminds me of the guy that designed pageant dresses, I think his name was Kayne. Kayne and Suede should date, get a small dog with a rhinestone collar, adopt a kid and fade away from pop culture. On a side note, I really like Kelly's work. She could be my favorite this season but it's still a little early to tell.

Another great moment in reality t.v. came from The Soup. There's this guy on Big Brother that went to Wartburg. He was a wrestler and on more than one occasion finished the last bit of cheese during "Make Your Own Pizza Night" while I was patiently waiting my turn to create a fantastic veggie masterpiece. He was also one of the few guys that pounded on my door first-year looking for girls' underwear for wrestling initiation. I did not answer the door and avoided him at all costs. Thank you everyone at E! for creating this beautiful montage. 


I'm also watching Kathy Griffin, So You Think You Can Dance, Anthony Bourdain, Myth Busters and a few other Discovery, Travel, TLC shows. Also, it is both Shark Week and China Week this week... I am overwhelmed with need to choose.

Brand Geek

The Morton Salt girl is by far my favorite branding image/logo of all time. Think about the other girls used for branding... Wendy from Wendy's, Birdie a friend of Ronald McDonald, Mrs. Butterworth, Bertoli's "Muse," Aunt Jamima, Starbuck's Siren, Chiquita Banana.. all of them represent some stereotypical female trait. Whether it's grandmotherly with potentially racist undertones, over-sexualized, mythical or oblivious, it is hard to find cool girl in the world of famous logos. The Morton Salt girl is on a mission and prepared for whatever weather comes her way. She isn't relying on Morton, for all we know it's her last name and she using old-school marketing techniques to make her product known.

parking tickets

I have so many parking tickets (4 unpaid) and they're not even under my own name. I didn't drive until I was 22 so maybe that's a sign I'm meant to live in cities with great public transportation systems. I am so bored of driving places, paying for parking and doing it all over again the next day. 
I'd ride a bike but:
I live too far from work
I'm always running late
My bike is broken and sitting at The Alt 
I need a new bike
I suck at biking in the street/bike lane, it makes me nervous
I'd rather bike on the side walk
I have bad depth perception while driving, walking, biking and skating
I'm the type that should wear a helmet but won't
However, I would make an effort to get up early if a cute vintage bike was involved

Skinny Jeans

I used to say skinny jeans were only for the Nicole Richie's and Agyness Deyn's of the world. Short or tall you've gotta be stick thin with out muscular legs and probably do heroin or chain smoke to really pull them off.

However, I have found a pair of skinny jeans that doesn't make me look like an Amazon woman and they were only $20! Thank you Target for providing curvy athletic chicks with a great pair of dark denim skinny jeans with adorable girly details on the pockets. Thank you for not advertising them to death. Thank you for designing for the financially challenged. Thank you for being a friend.

not a pushy girl

I can't remember the last time I was so offended!

Run-down of situation:
A guy and a girl are friends with all sorts of awkward chemistry
girl and guy stopped hooking up and went back to being friends
guy continued to initiate situations
girl respected the decision 
guy began to treat her the way he did before this decision was made
girl didn't initiate romantic situations, flirtatious comments or physical connection without guy bringing it on first
guy went back and forth on his decision
girl just went with the flow... she had other things to deal with
girl and guy went out with friends on Friday
girl was rather drunk, shouldn't drive and needed a place to crash
guy suggested eating and then drive home
girl, shocked (a real friend would never do that) called brother at 2 a.m. for a ride
girl was silent on the walk home
guy blamed his attraction, emotions and confusion on girl saying she was pushy
girl told him to grow up, figure things out, stay consistent and stop blaming her 
guy tried to retract the "drive home" thing out of guilt and assured the girl he liked her
girl was too smart for that and left
guy stood on porch a little watery-eyed but probably just had something in his eye
girl had bestie drive her to her car the next day
girl is still angry that she was called pushy, that is a cop-out and untrue
girl will not contact this guy again... just like last time... probably because she's being pushy by giving him space and just like last time she will not be surprised if the guy doesn't last a week without contacting her... but unlike last time she may not respond.
